Since 2004, the city museum in the Roter Hirsch has a special kind of advertising: a 6.50 meter high stela on the over site oft he street. The work of art with the slogan: "The City on the River by the Road in Time" was designed by the Chemnitz artist Michael Stapf.
The stele not only promotes a visit to the museum, but also sets a memorial to the Via Regia. Eilenburg, located on this main East-West link, has benefited from trading on this road for many centuries and has established a significant part of its prosperity.
The stele is supplemented by a historical course of the Via Regia sunken in the pavement.
